Who We Are
The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), a national
organization, is the only
organization that represents the interest of women business
owners in all industries. Founded in 1975, NAWBO propels women entrepreneurs
into economic, social and political spheres of power worldwide.
Our Mission
NAWBO is the voice of America’s 10.6 million women-owned businesses,
and provides programs to help them grow their businesses. NAWBO’s
mission is to strengthen the wealth-creating capacity of its members and
promote economic development; to create innovative and effective change
in the business culture; to build strategic alliances, coalitions and
affiliations; and to transform public policy and influence opinion makers.
Colorado Influence
The NAWBO Denver chapter has nearly 200 members who represent many of
the women-owned businesses that generate $13 billion in sales annually
in Denver. According to the Center for Women's Business Research, the
Denver metro area ranks fifteenth in the nation for the number of women-owned
businesses. Colorado is setting the standard for development of women
owned business and there is a demand among Colorado women business owners
to receive more education and networking opportunities to help them grow
their businesses.
Answering the Call
A recent survey of NAWBO-Denver members showed that 90 percent wanted
more opportunities to network with female business owners. They also indicated
the need for more educational programs and access to more resources. In
response, NAWBO-Denver and the Colorado District Office of the SBA have
joined forces to present a premier conference for Colorado women business
owners. In Good Company, presents a unique experience
to learn, showcase successes and to foster growth and sustainability of
women owned businesses in Colorado.
